Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about buying used EV battery packs: health, reports, fitment, shipping and ordering.
What is State of Health (SOH)?
State of Health is how much capacity a battery still holds compared to when it was new. A battery pack at 90% SOH stores 90% of its original energy, so the car it goes into will have roughly 90% of the range it had with a fresh battery pack. It is the single most useful number when judging a used battery, which is why we put it on every listing that has been measured.
What do Grade A, B and C mean?
They are our shorthand for measured State of Health. Grade A is 90% and up, close to new. Grade B is 80 to 89%, strong everyday range. Grade C is below 80%, best suited to budget repairs, backup battery packs or storage builds. The grade is derived from the measured SOH, never assigned by feel.
What is in the battery test report?
The full diagnostic report (PDF), usually from an Autel battery scan, shows the measured State of Health, maximum storable energy, rated voltage and capacity, cell balance across the modules and the overall assessment. We don't publish every PDF online, but we have it: ask on the listing and we send it before you order.
How do I get the test report for a listing?
Every listing shows the core specs and, where we have measured it, the State of Health. We don't post every PDF online, but we hold it and send it the moment you ask, using the request button on the listing. If a battery pack has not been measured yet, we say so plainly instead of hiding it behind a vague grade.
Is a used EV battery pack safe to buy?
A used battery pack is a high-voltage component and deserves respect, but bought right it is a sound part. The risk with used batteries is not knowing their real condition, and that is exactly what the test report removes: you see measured capacity and cell balance instead of guessing. Installation should always be done by someone qualified to work on high-voltage systems.
How do I know a battery pack fits my car?
Each listing names the donor car and model year. If you are not certain it fits, use the contact button and tell us your car and VIN, and we match the battery pack to your vehicle before you commit. We have matched EV parts to cars since 2013 and would rather check twice than ship the wrong battery pack.
Can I use a battery pack for a conversion or storage project?
Yes. Conversion builders and off-grid projects are a big part of who we serve. The report data, capacity, voltage and cell balance, is exactly what you need to plan a build. If you tell us the project, we can advise which battery pack chemistry and format fits before you commit.
How does ordering work?
There is no account or checkout form. You press the order button on a listing, which opens a prefilled message, add your details and send it. We confirm the battery pack is still available, send a secure payment link or our bank details, and arrange shipping. Your invoice comes from evshop.eu, the same company behind the marketplace.
How is a battery pack shipped?
Battery packs ship on EUR-pallet, strapped and protected, across Europe. Shipping is quoted per destination because battery pack weight and country change the price a lot. Tell us where you are and we include the shipping quote in the same reply that confirms availability.
Do prices include VAT?
No, all prices on the marketplace are shown excluding VAT. VAT is applied on the invoice according to your country and whether you buy as a company. EU companies with a valid VAT ID can usually buy under the reverse-charge rules, which is one of the details we sort out when you order.
What if something is wrong when it arrives?
Tell us straight away. If something is not right with what arrives, the EVShop.eu return policy applies the same way it does on the main store. The full policy is linked on our returns page.
Can you find me a battery pack that is not listed?
Yes. We supply batteries to order through the network we have used for EV parts since 2013. Send us the car, model year and what you need, and we come back with options and a price. A battery pack we supply comes with the same test report before it ships.
